The Scholarship Academy Virtual Event - Applications to Awards: How to Win Prestigious Scholarships

Why: To gain an introduction to prestigious scholarships, strategies to strengthen applications, and insights on how scholarships can enhance the academic journey, while easing the financial burden of college.

When: Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. 

Target Audience: Students, parents, school administrators, school counselors, and volunteers

SCCPSS will be hosting a Scholarship Fair on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Jenkins High School from 9 am to 12 pm. This event offers an opportunity to connect directly with scholarship providers and discover resources to support your post-secondary education plans.

James W. McLamore Burger King Scholarship

Scholarships range from $1,000 to $60,000 and are intended to offset the cost of attending college or post-secondary vocational/technical school. Recipients are selected through an application process that takes into consideration their grade point average (GPA), work experience, extracurricular activities, financial need and community service. In 2024 alone, the Foundation awarded over $4.5 million in scholarships to nearly 4,200 students.

The application period for the 2026-2027 cycle opens on October 15th, 2025 and will be open until we receive 30,000 applications or until December 15th, 2025.

Phil Bennett Memorial Scholarship

The Georgia Collectors Association offers up to $1,500 in scholarship(s) each year divided among selected qualifying candidate(s). This scholarship is offered to high school seniors, college students, or those attending vocational training and are Georgia residents.

Applicants must write an original essay (minimum of 1,000 words) on the “The Importance of Credit to a Young Person”.

2026 Military Child of the Year® Award

ABOUT

  • Seven awards are presented to one outstanding youth from each service branch: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, and the Space Force.
  • The awards recognize the recipients for their resiliency, leadership, and achievement during their parents’ service.
  • Each recipient receives a $10,000 cash award, a laptop computer, and are flown with an adult guardian and guest for a 3-night stay in Washington, D.C.
  • Recipients and their families will travel to Washington, D.C., April 21-24 for events, tours, and activities leading up to the Operation Homefront Military Child of the Year Awards Gala. The gala will be held the evening of Thursday, April 23, 2026.

 

 
 
The Hagan Scholarship

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, providing recipients with the opportunity to achieve their goals and graduate college debt-free. The scholarship provides $2,000 to help pay for essential items to attend college and up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters.

The SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program

The SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program is now open. It is a unique opportunity for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students to advance their education and jumpstart their careers.

Bridge the Dream Scholarship

The Ron Brown Scholarship honors the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans.

Iota Scholarship

 

Iota Phi Lambda, Inc. is now accepting application for their Evelyn D. Wilkey IOTA scholarship. The deadline for the local submission is 11/15/2025.
